December 19, 2021 - wasn’t planning to buy much of anything at the bazaar, not in the least because I’m going back to the US for winter vacation this week…but I couldn’t resist this raspberry jam. Kyrgyz people like to put jam in their tea. One of my students told me that drinking tea with jam is good to do when you’re sick
December 16, 2021 - I guess this 9 year old student I have loves me. This is the second time he’s written ‘love u’/‘I love you’ at the end of his writing composition
December 13, 2021 - a social distance marker on an escalator (there was one on every other step on the opposite side of the step)
December 12, 2021 - a bowl of plov that I bought from a bazaar 😊
December 10, 2021 - I have been uploading a lot of pictures of things in shops lately because I’ve been on the hunt for Christmas gifts and things to take back to the US during my winter break. I thought this was funny because the bottle on the case reads “Unicorn Water” in English but then has Chinese which says 你今天喝了吗?(Have you drank today?). Is the case trying to ask if I have drank Unicorn Water today? Where does one acquire such a liquid and what is it??
December 9, 2021 - I don’t know what cracked me up more, the butt cracks on the avocadoes facing away, or the fact that the Russian isn’t really Russian but a transliteration of English words (Ай = I, эм = am, авокадо = avocado)
December 8, 2021 - some french toast that I made! I bought bread for the first time since I’ve been here (I rarely eat bread these days – I prefer rice) and was worried that it would go to waste, hence using it up
December 7, 2021 - Christmas tree up at my school. Christmas decorations appeared in stores and bazaars probably at the beginning of this month, unlike the US where there is Christmas decor for sale in July :P that’s an overexaggeration, of course, but still..
December 6, 2021 - possibly a questionable name, but pretty good chips! The only bad thing about them is the price. Maybe I just haven’t taken a good look in the chips aisle in the US in a while, but I don’t remember these being available there
December 5, 2021 - people getting on a marshrutka (minibus)
