January 11, 2023 - cold snap in Central Asia. Taken this morning just before 8 am in Bishkek when it was about 11°F / -12°C. Now in the evening it’s a little colder at about 5°F / -15°C
January 10, 2023 - My students are so nice. One gave me a banana and yogurt today. Another baked chocolate muffin things (pictured) for her whole class (and me) for no reason??
January 9, 2023 - at a cafe doing Russian homework before my lesson. I ordered a bottle of Coca-Cola because it was one of the cheapest drinks and some fries. Didn’t know what was in the brown bottle. I assumed ketchup, but was very confused that they brought it with the coke

January 3, 2023 - finally tried Papa John’s in Bishkek! It was fine, not amazing, not bad but a little expensive. The price I saw online was different than what I got in the store. Oh well. No regrets. I would eat it again if offered, which I think is a good sign with food!

December 31, 2022 - I know this looks unappetizing, but don’t be like me and judge it based on looks! This is чурчхела, which according to Wikipedia is a Georgian dessert with nuts and a kind of fruit syrup. It’s made on a string, hence the odd shape
