January 22, 2023 - there was a building with a fire on one of the upper floors that you could see from my classroom, but hard to see in the pic. This happened not long after a lesson when I asked my students where fire stations in Bishkek are (we still don’t know)
January 21, 2023 - first time I’ve ever seen a sign explaining how to use these produce weights. Take your produce, put it on the scale, find the white button with the produce name/#, press it and take the price sticker which prints. The instructions are in Kyrgyz and Russian

January 18, 2023 - Bought pb with this American Olympic diver on it. Was wondering why he would sponsor this pb and after finding nothing on Google realized the company seems to have just taken his picture and quote and slapped it on their product. Is that legal?

January 11, 2023 - cold snap in Central Asia. Taken this morning just before 8 am in Bishkek when it was about 11°F / -12°C. Now in the evening it’s a little colder at about 5°F / -15°C
January 10, 2023 - My students are so nice. One gave me a banana and yogurt today. Another baked chocolate muffin things (pictured) for her whole class (and me) for no reason??
January 9, 2023 - at a cafe doing Russian homework before my lesson. I ordered a bottle of Coca-Cola because it was one of the cheapest drinks and some fries. Didn’t know what was in the brown bottle. I assumed ketchup, but was very confused that they brought it with the coke
