November 30, 2022 - not just fog, but also winter death air. yuck. the opposite of safety, which can be partly attained by wearing a mask outside
November 29, 2022 - honestly got no idea why the fish is packaged like this (apparently a kind of herring)
November 28, 2022 - a trend I’ve noticed here is that people who live in apartment buildings tend to leave large items like strollers and bikes in the public hallway, even without locks and such (probably because the buildings only open by code or key anyway)
November 27, 2022 - gathered motivation to try this Kyrgyz fast food place (I know, motivation for fast food? it’s a little out of the way and I’ve been feeling a little sick)
food was okay, but still glad to have tried it. trying to do or see a new little thing every day
November 26, 2022 - made a commitment earlier this month to take a photo of the building where Kyrgyz ministers work. Turns out I had been in the area before without realizing what exactly the building was. Panfilov Park in the background
November 25, 2022 - Russian lesson ritual disrupted a bit. Teacher arrived later than usual (but still on time). She had been at a protest as a result of these events. She said, “If people do nothing, nothing will change, but I want my country to become better.” Respect.
November 24, 2022 - have to retain these adjective endings, but the rules don’t compute in my brain. it feels easier to just employ trial and error until I get the right ending. (ий and ый sound similar in spoken Russian anyway)
(also, can you tell that I love direction words?)
November 23, 2022 - updated my vaccine record! got lost in the depressing-looking clinic, only had to wait чуть-чуть (a little bit) after it was done (about two minutes) and I was told not to shower for 3 days 🤨 at least it’s kinda interesting to have a Kyrgyz vaccination card?
November 22, 2022 - sunrise picture in the mountains from last year when I stayed overnight in a yurt and awoke to the noise of horses grazing
November 21, 2022 - snow/ice pic from last Thursday morning (it snowed last Wednesday but it’s all melted now)
(also you can see the supermarket that I raved about before in the background, hehe)
November 20, 2022 - repeat topic - another picture from my August trip. Missing nature and the mountains
November 18, 2022 - ad at a bus stop with a picture of a car which therefore includes tires. (the text says “trips at your price” in Kyrgyz and Russian)
November 17, 2022 - barrelling down country highways and roads in Kyrgyzstan means being on alert for any livestock. This includes sheep, horses and cows
(Unfortunately have not been out of the city for a while 🙁 this picture is from summer)
November 16, 2022 - Globus supermarket franchise soon to open about a minute walk from my apartment!! My favorite supermarket here
November 15, 2022 - from my locally purchased deodorant which contains aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly
November 13, 2022 - personally don’t drive here myself, but still have to adjust to seeing vehicles in adjacent lanes* mere centimeters/inches away from each other
*also applies to driving cars + cars parked along the side of the road
November 12, 2022 - I had a suspicion that I wouldn’t like these ketchup flavored Cheetos…I was correct
November 11, 2022 - the garlands being put on display close to toilet brushes was really off-putting to me…they look similar, no?
(surprised to see garlands out when winter holidays aren’t until Dec 31 and the new year. Don’t remember seeing these out in November last year)
November 10, 2022 - I had no idea where Kyrgyz goverment ministers actually worked and found the place using a local maps app 2GIS (which apparently isn’t in app stores atm due to sanctions?).
Looks like a cool building from the outside, will have to stop by and take my own pics
November 9, 2022 - yesterday the weather forecast showed that it was 90% certain about snow today – it did snow a little bit!
And then it all melted by noon 😆
